(Reuters) – U.S. President Donald Trump has overtaken Democratic competitor Joe Biden to stand as the favorite to gain the 2020 U.S. Presidential election on Europe based betting exchange Betfair, the exchange stated on Wednesday.
Trump’s odds, reflecting wagers matched on the peer-to-peer betting network, stood for evens, Betfair Exchange said, versus 21 20 for Biden.
Betfair Exchange stated four bets of more than 10,000 pounds ($13,362) were placed on the platform over night, of what 3 had been on Trump, while the most important stake of the campaign so far, a 50,000-pound choice, was placed on the Republican nominee with the weekend.
These bets in part aided Trump to carry the lead, after being neck-and-neck with Biden earlier this week, doing an extraordinary relief in the betting markets.
“In August, Trump had the most awful odds for re-election of any sitting President in defeat and history to Biden was looking increasingly likely,” Darren Hughes, spokesperson at Flutter Entertainment system Betfair Exchange, believed.
A Reuters/Ipsos national thoughts and opinions poll on Wednesday showed forty % of voters that are registered support Trump, compared with forty seven % that said they will vote for Biden.
Biden’s lead is basically unchanged with the previous three months, during what the two individuals held conventions to nominate their candidates Biden and Trump for the presidency.
